LIPOSUCTION FOR MEN IN ANTALYA
Liposuction for men is a surgical procedure used to remove selected deposits of subcutaneous fat from defined areas of the body. Treatment is planned according to individual fat distribution, skin elasticity, body proportions and the anatomical characteristics of each treatment area.
Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure and is not intended to replace methods used for general weight management.
At Dr. Seckin Oksar’s practice in Antalya, liposuction for men begins with an individual examination to determine which areas may be appropriate for treatment and how the skin and surrounding tissues may respond after fat removal.
WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION FOR MEN?
Liposuction removes selected subcutaneous fat through small skin incisions using a thin surgical tube called a cannula.
The cannula is introduced beneath the skin and passed through the selected fatty tissue using controlled movements. The loosened fat is then removed through suction.
The objective is not to remove all fat from a treatment area.
A layer of tissue remains beneath the skin, and the amount removed must be planned in relation to surrounding body contours and skin characteristics.
There is no single liposuction pattern specifically required for every male patient. Treatment areas are selected according to individual anatomy.
WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Liposuction may be considered for localised subcutaneous fat in several areas.
Commonly evaluated areas include:
- Abdomen.
- Waist.
- Flanks.
- Lower back.
- Upper back.
- Chest in selected cases.
- Chin and neck.
- Hips.
- Thighs.
- Other defined areas of subcutaneous fat.
More than one area may sometimes be included within the same surgical plan.
The number and size of the areas being treated influence the extent of surgery and recovery requirements.
HOW IS MALE BODY CONTOUR EVALUATED?
Body-contouring assessment is performed while standing so that the relationship between different anatomical regions can be evaluated.
The examination includes:
- Distribution of subcutaneous fat.
- Skin thickness.
- Skin elasticity.
- Abdominal contour.
- Waist and flank relationship.
- Chest anatomy when relevant.
- Natural asymmetry.
- Previous scars.
- Overall body proportions.
The cause of fullness must also be considered.
For example, abdominal prominence can involve subcutaneous fat, abdominal wall structure or deeper internal tissues.
Liposuction only removes selected subcutaneous fat and therefore does not address every possible cause of abdominal projection.
IS LIPOSUCTION A WEIGHT-LOSS PROCEDURE?
No.
Liposuction is designed for selected fat deposits rather than general weight reduction.
The amount removed during surgery is determined according to the treatment area, surrounding tissues and medical considerations rather than a target reduction in body weight.
Significant weight gain after surgery can alter treated areas because the remaining fat cells can increase in size.
A relatively stable body weight provides a more consistent basis for planning.
WHAT CAN LIPOSUCTION NOT TREAT?
Liposuction does not directly treat every factor contributing to body contour.
It is not specifically used to correct:
- General obesity.
- Significant excess skin.
- Stretch marks.
- Cellulite.
- Abdominal muscle separation.
- Deep fat located within the abdominal cavity.
When loose skin is a major component of an area, removing fat alone may not address the skin laxity.
Skin quality is therefore an important part of determining whether liposuction is appropriate.
COMMONLY TREATED AREAS IN MEN
Each region is assessed in relation to the areas around it rather than treated as an isolated point.
Abdomen
The abdomen is one of the areas that may be evaluated for liposuction. During examination, the surgeon assesses whether the visible fullness is primarily located within the subcutaneous fat layer. The abdomen is considered together with the waist and flanks because these regions form a continuous body contour. The procedure removes selected fat beneath the skin but does not tighten separated abdominal muscles or remove substantial skin excess. These anatomical differences need to be identified before surgery.
Waist and flanks
Localised fat can accumulate around the sides of the waist and flank region. When appropriate, these areas may be treated either individually or together with other regions. Treatment planning considers the transition between the waist, abdomen and back rather than treating each small area independently. The amount of fat removed from each region may differ because natural body anatomy is not perfectly symmetrical.
Chin and neck
Liposuction may also be considered for selected subcutaneous fat beneath the chin or within the upper neck. The assessment includes skin elasticity, chin projection, neck anatomy and the location of the fatty tissue. Not every change beneath the chin is caused by superficial fat. Skin laxity and deeper anatomical structures can also affect neck contour and may require separate evaluation.
CAN LIPOSUCTION BE USED ON THE MALE CHEST?
Liposuction may be used when fatty tissue forms part of chest fullness.
However, male chest enlargement can also involve glandular breast tissue.
Glandular tissue may require direct excision rather than liposuction alone.
The chest should therefore be examined before deciding which technique is appropriate.
When glandular tissue is present, the condition may be assessed within the context of gynecomastia surgery.
HOW IS LIPOSUCTION PLANNED?
Before surgery, treatment areas are marked according to anatomical boundaries and the distribution of subcutaneous fat.
The surgeon evaluates the thickness of fatty tissue and the quality of the overlying skin.
Natural differences between the two sides of the body are also documented.
The aim is not to remove the largest possible amount of fat.
Fat removal is planned according to tissue thickness, surrounding contours and surgical considerations.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING LIPOSUCTION SURGERY?
More than one access point may be needed to approach an area from different directions.

Liposuction is performed using an anaesthetic method selected according to the number and size of the treatment areas and individual medical assessment.

I went to Antalya to originally get a scar revision and abdominal etching as due to a previous botched surgery, I was left with a horrible keloid scar and uneven abdominal. I was very hesitant at first due to my previous experience. But Dr.Seckin is well recommended by a close friend. He made me feel at ease with the operation. WHEN CAN EXERCISE RESUME?
The timing depends on the treatment areas and extent of surgery.
Walking and routine movement place less stress on healing tissues than resistance training, running or high-impact exercise.
Physical activity is therefore increased progressively.
The postoperative examination is used to determine when specific types of exercise can be resumed.
HOW LONG DOES SWELLING LAST?
Swelling gradually decreases after liposuction.
A large proportion changes during the first several weeks, but residual swelling and tissue firmness can remain for longer.
Different areas may resolve at different rates.
The body contour should therefore not be considered final immediately following surgery.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SKIN AFTER LIPOSUCTION?
The skin must adapt to the reduced volume beneath it after fat removal.
Its ability to do this is influenced by:
- Existing elasticity.
- Tissue quality.
- Previous weight changes.
- Amount of fat removed.
- Treatment location.
- Individual healing characteristics.
Liposuction itself does not remove substantial excess skin.
When skin laxity is present, this must be considered separately during surgical planning.
CAN FAT RETURN AFTER LIPOSUCTION?
Fat cells removed during liposuction are physically removed from the treated area.
However, remaining fat cells can increase in size with future weight gain.
Body proportions may therefore change after surgery if body weight changes significantly.
Liposuction should not be regarded as preventing future fat accumulation.

Possible risks include:

- Bruising.
- Infection.
- Fluid accumulation.
- Persistent swelling.
