THIGH LIFT IN ANTALYA
A thigh lift, medically known as thighplasty, is a surgical procedure used to address excess skin and selected tissue changes in the thighs. The operation may involve the inner thighs, outer thighs or a defined combination of areas depending on individual anatomy.
Loose thigh skin may occur after significant weight loss, changes in skin elasticity, ageing or individual tissue characteristics. In some cases, excess skin is accompanied by localised subcutaneous fat.

WHAT IS A THIGH LIFT?
A thigh lift removes selected excess skin and reshapes the remaining tissues of the thigh.
The exact procedure varies according to where skin laxity is located.
Some individuals have excess skin mainly in the upper inner thigh. Others have loose skin extending farther down the leg.
The operation is therefore planned according to the actual distribution of tissue rather than using the same incision for every thigh.
WHO MAY BE EVALUATED FOR THIGH LIFT SURGERY?
Thigh lift surgery may be considered in adults who have loose or excess thigh skin and are medically suitable for elective surgery.
Assessment may be appropriate in the presence of:
- Loose skin following substantial weight loss.
- Skin laxity affecting the inner thighs.
- Excess skin extending down the thigh.
- Skin folds in the upper thigh region.
- A combination of excess skin and selected fatty tissue.
- Differences between the right and left thighs.
Body-weight stability is also relevant.
Further substantial weight changes can alter the skin and soft tissues after surgery.
HOW ARE THE THIGHS EVALUATED?
The thighs are examined while standing so that skin position and tissue distribution can be assessed under normal gravitational forces.
The evaluation includes:
- Amount of excess skin.
- Location of skin laxity.
- Skin elasticity.
- Subcutaneous fat distribution.
- Inner and outer thigh contour.
- Groin anatomy.
- Existing scars.
- Natural asymmetry.
The location of excess skin helps determine the incision pattern required.
A limited amount of upper inner-thigh skin may require a different surgical approach from skin laxity extending toward the knee.
INNER AND OUTER THIGH LIFT
The appropriate technique depends on the exact area being addressed and is planned individually.
Inner thigh lift
An inner thigh lift focuses primarily on the medial, or inner, part of the thigh. When excess skin is concentrated close to the upper thigh, the incision may be positioned mainly within the groin crease. When skin laxity extends farther down the inner leg, a vertical incision extending along the inner thigh may also be required. The length of this incision depends on the amount and distribution of tissue being removed.
Outer thigh lift
An outer thigh lift addresses tissue around the outer thigh and may extend toward the hip. The incision pattern differs from an inner thigh lift because access is required to another anatomical region. Depending on the extent of tissue changes, the incision may extend around parts of the hip or lower body.
A detailed examination is therefore necessary before the scar pattern can be determined.
CAN LIPOSUCTION BE COMBINED WITH A THIGH LIFT?
Liposuction may sometimes be included when selected fat deposits are present together with excess skin.
However, liposuction and thigh lift surgery serve different purposes.
Liposuction removes subcutaneous fat, while thighplasty removes excess skin and supports the remaining tissues.
Where skin elasticity is reduced, liposuction alone may not address loose skin.
The need for fat removal, skin removal or a combination of both is determined after examination.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THIGH LIFT SURGERY?
Compression garments may be recommended, and temporary drains may be used in some cases to remove fluid that can collect beneath the tissues.

Thigh lift surgery is performed under anaesthesia.

Before surgery, the planned areas of skin removal and incision lines are marked.

Tissue removal
The incision is then made according to the selected surgical approach. Excess skin and, where indicated, selected fatty tissue are removed. Deeper supportive tissues may be secured with internal sutures to support the reshaped contour.

Closure
The remaining skin is repositioned and the incision is closed. Dressings are applied following surgery.

I went to Antalya to originally get a scar revision and abdominal etching as due to a previous botched surgery, I was left with a horrible keloid scar and uneven abdominal. I was very hesitant at first due to my previous experience. But Dr.Seckin is well recommended by a close friend. He made me feel at ease with the operation. He corrected my scar and did a correction mini tummy tuck plus abdominal etching. I cannot recommend him enough. He is an amazing professional Doctor.

WALKING AFTER THIGH LIFT SURGERY
Walking is gradually introduced during recovery.
Movement is important after surgery, but excessive stretching or repetitive strain on the inner thigh and groin incisions should be avoided during early healing.
The amount of activity is increased according to postoperative assessment.
Individuals undergoing more extensive surgery may require a different recovery progression from those having a more limited upper-thigh procedure.
WHEN CAN EXERCISE RESUME?
Light activity generally resumes before strenuous exercise.
Running, resistance training and activities involving wide leg movements can place additional tension on healing thigh incisions.
Return to these activities should therefore be gradual.
The exact timing depends on wound healing, the length and position of the incisions and whether additional procedures were performed.
HOW LONG DOES SWELLING LAST?
Swelling is expected after thigh lift surgery.
It decreases progressively during the first several weeks, but residual swelling and tissue firmness may remain for longer.
The legs may also resolve swelling at slightly different rates.
The final thigh contour should therefore not be assessed during early recovery.
WHERE ARE THIGH LIFT SCARS?
Scar location depends on the technique required.
Possible patterns include:
- A scar within the groin crease.
- A scar extending from the groin down the inner thigh.
- Incisions extending toward the hip or outer thigh in relevant procedures.
More extensive skin laxity generally requires more extensive incisions.
Every thigh lift produces permanent scars.
Their appearance changes during the healing process, but they do not disappear completely.
WHAT FACTORS AFFECT SCAR HEALING?
Scar formation varies between individuals.
Factors that may influence healing include:

Significant weight gain can increase soft tissue volume, while future weight loss can create additional skin laxity.
For this reason, thigh lift surgery is generally planned when body weight is relatively stable.
Ageing and natural changes in skin elasticity also continue after surgery.

SMOKING AND THIGH LIFT SURGERY
Nicotine can interfere with blood flow to healing tissues.
Smoking, vaping and other forms of nicotine use should therefore be discussed during the preoperative assessment.
Stopping nicotine may be required before and after surgery according to medical instructions.
Medication and supplements that could influence bleeding or wound healing should also be reviewed.
